Today’s Daily Writing Prompt: “What are your Top Ten Favorite Movies?”
This one was tough for me to narrow down. I have so many favorites!
My top ten might be a little different from most people’s, but here they are:
- Death Becomes Her
- The Fifth Element
- 13 Ghosts
- Ghost Ship
- The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
- THEY LIVE
- The Truman Show
- Friday
- Matilda
- Men in Black
If I could only keep one movie on my favorites list forever, it would be Death Becomes Her. The dark humor, petty drama, and ridiculousness of it all? I eat that up every single time. The Fifth Element is right behind it though. That mix of sci-fi and chaos is my kind of comfort zone.

Ghost Ship has the singularly best intro opening of any movie ever. Overall, it was a decent movie, but man that intro is stunning. I don’t think I’ve ever seen any movie top that opening.

Oh absolutely! That opening scene is legendary. The rest of the movie is a fun ride, but that intro? Pure cinematic mic drop. I think I may have seen one movie recently that came close… if I remember the name, I’ll come back and drop it.
