Growing up, many of us never had the chance to develop our intuition in a healthy way. Instead of learning the difference between gut feelings, emotional shifts, and genuine spiritual awareness, we were bombarded with fear-based language. Saying things like, “somebody doing voodoo,” or “you’re acting like a little demon.” That environment teaches you to fear your own sensitivity instead of understanding it.
When a child grows up in a home where everything is labeled spiritual attack, witchcraft, or evil, it creates a few long-term patterns:
- You learn to mistrust your own intuition.
Because nobody ever taught you the difference between awareness and fear.
- You start assuming the worst.
Not because you’re dramatic, but because you were conditioned to expect danger.
- You confuse emotional signals with spiritual ones.
Anxiety feels like a “sign.”
Intuition feels like “attack.”
A shift in energy feels like “somebody doing something.” - You never learn the language of your own body.
So, everything feels bigger, scarier, or supernatural. - You think your gifts are something to hide.
Because they weren’t nurtured, they were shamed.
This is how childhood trauma sneaks its way into adulthood disguised as “spiritual sensitivity.”
It doesn’t mean you’re crazy.
It means you were trained to survive, not understand.
For me, I grew up hearing things like “somebody got voodoo on you” or “you’re acting like a demon.” I learned early on to connect every feeling with danger. I never got the space to explore my intuition as something natural or safe. So, when I sense people’s jealousy, bad intentions, or emotional intensity, my mind instantly jumps to the idea of witchcraft. Not because it’s true, but because it’s familiar.
That isn’t intuition.
That is conditioning.

Intuition isn’t scary.
It’s a skill.
And once you separate fear from your actual gift, you start to see the truth:
- You’re not cursed. You’re sensitive.
- You’re not under attack. You’re aware.
- You’re not imagining things. You’re picking up energy.
- You’re not “crazy.” You were just never taught how to understand your own inner voice.
Healing is learning the difference between:
trauma reactions vs. true intuition.
You no longer have to fear your gifts.
You’re allowed to unlearn the things people said to you out of their own fear, misunderstanding, or limitation. You can explore your intuition in a grounded, educated, and shame-free way.
Your sensitivity isn’t a weakness.
It’s the part of you that survived.
